We found 10 kid-friendly restaurants within 25 miles of downtown Birmingham that have a kids-eat-free night on our map and a kids menu on their own website, led by Big Whiskey’s in Hoover, Jefferson’s in Hoover, Metro Diner in Inverness and Trussville, and Taco Mac in Pelham. Those four also post kids prices. Chick-fil-A, Beef ’O’ Brady’s, Eugene’s Hot Chicken, Outback Steakhouse, Waldo’s Chicken & Beer and Walk-On’s list kids items without prices. None of the pages we checked on these ten sites mention a play area or playground.

Which Birmingham restaurants have a kids menu with prices and a free kids night?
All 10 below have a kids-eat-free night on Kids Eat Free Map and a kids menu on their own site. These first four also show kids prices on that menu.
1. Big Whiskey’s American Restaurant & Bar
Area: Hoover, 5250 Peridot Place. Kids night: Tuesdays, 5 to 9, kids eat free; the Hoover location page adds that it comes with the purchase of an entree, dine-in or carry-out; ages not listed. Kids menu: yes, $5.99 per entree. Play area: not listed.
Big Whiskey’s Kids’ Menu lists seven entrees at $5.99 each: a mini cheeseburger, chicken tenders, mini shrimp, two grilled chicken tenders, six mini corn dogs, grilled cheese on sourdough and penne mac and cheese. The menu says all kids’ meals include a side and a drink; sides include mashed potatoes, green beans, broccoli, fries, a berry medley, a side salad and a breadstick. No age limit is listed. The Hoover page says the restaurant is “famous for its patio,” which helps on a mild Tuesday evening.

2. Jefferson’s
Area: Hoover, 4524 Southlake Pkwy. Kids night: Sundays, kids 12 and under; the Jefferson’s site doesn’t mention the deal, so ask your server. Kids menu: yes, $6.99 for 12 and under. Play area: not listed.
The Hoover menu on the Jefferson’s site has a Kids Menu at one price, $6.99, for guests 12 and under. Kids pick a cheeseburger, grilled cheese, a hot dog, mac ’n’ cheese, four boneless wings or two chicken tenders (grilled or fried), and each meal comes with fries or applesauce, lemonade or a soft drink, and an ice cream treat. The Hoover page also lists an outdoor patio and a party room.

Kids night: Wednesdays; both Metro Diner location pages say kids eat free after 2 pm when you dine in, with the purchase of an adult entree. Our listings show kids 10 and under. Metro Diner’s online menu, which isn’t labeled by location, has a Kid’s Menu of kid-sized diner favorites: kid’s pancakes at $4.79, a waffle at $4.99, grilled cheese and mac & cheese at $5.99 each, a platter and tenders at $6.99 each, a kid’s Bissell at $7.49 and chicken & waffle at $8.79. No age limit is shown on the menu. Breakfast items on the kids menu and a 2 pm start make Wednesday an easy early dinner. The Trussville page also notes Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park is just up the road.

4. Taco Mac
Area: Pelham, 2500 Canopy Trail. Kids night: Tuesdays, kids eat free, one free kids meal with each adult entree; ages not listed, and the Pelham location page doesn’t mention it, so ask when you order. Kids menu: yes, $6.49 for most items. Play area: not listed.
Taco Mac’s main menu has a Kid’s Menu “served only to children under the age of 12.” Four boneless or traditional wings, three fried chicken tenders, a grilled burger, mini corn dogs and mac and cheese are $6.49 each; two beef tacos are listed without a price, and cheese on the burger is $0.50 extra. Every kids meal comes with a side (fries, tots, broccoli, fruit or mandarin oranges), a drink and an Oatmeal Crème Pie.

Which ones list a kids menu but no prices?
Chick-fil-A, Beef ’O’ Brady’s, Eugene’s Hot Chicken, Outback Steakhouse, Waldo’s Chicken & Beer and Walk-On’s post kids items on their own sites without prices, so ask about kids prices when you order. Chick-fil-A and Waldo’s say prices vary by location.
5. Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A’s Kid’s Meals page lists a 5-count nuggets meal, a 2-count Chick-n-Strips meal, a 5-count grilled nuggets meal and a mac & cheese meal. It shows no prices and says price and availability may vary by location. Neither Hoover location page mentions a family night, so these deals come from our listings. With a Monday and a Tuesday night at two Hoover stores, this is the only brand on the list with two kids nights.
